The story of our skirt:

Our organic cotton is a special variety grown by over 2000 cooperative farmers in Nicaragua. We have been working with them for 8 years. Maggie's buys directly from these growers, pre-paying with deposits to cover their planting costs.

Their cotton is ginned at another cooperative we helped to start with Jubilee House Community (, which also pays fair wages to all.

Yarn and fabric are made in El Salvador, by a family-owned-and-operated company in business since 1972.

Dyeing is all low-impact, done in accordance with international organic standards (GOTS).

We ship our fabric to a 100% worker-owned cooperative we helped to form in 1999 in a small town near Asheville, North Carolina. Members of the co-op cut, sew, finish and package each skirt. They take much pride in their work, and we are thrilled to be their partner.

The bottom line is we put a lot of love into each garment, and we hope that comes through each time you wear it.

Thanks for supporting organic apparel and real fair trade...Enjoy.
