Several years ago, we realized that in order to fulfill our mission of sustaining the earth’s resources, we had to help sustain human resources as well. So we set out to create new production facilities (sewing factories, spinning plants,
etc.) where workers’ rights and abilities are both respected and paid fairly.
In 2008, our philosophy led us to a motivated group of workers in North Carolina. The results are these uniquely wonderful products:
• Made in the USA.
• Sewn by Opportunity Threads, a 100% worker-owned sewing cooperative.
• Made using repurposed materials – our excess sock and fabric scraps.
• Co-designed and created by Maggie’s Organics and Opportunity Threads.
The workers are the real story here. They are skilled, creative, and 100% committed to building a better future. Remember all of our animals are limited editions, as they are made from our overstocks & irregulars, and each has its own unique look & personality! |
